Psychopathy Tendency and Practice Effect on Face Recognition Deception Task: an fMRI study
-
To investigate the effect of practice and psychopathy on people's performance on lying about the familiarity of faces, based on both behavioural and functional neuroimaging data
-
Each participant is required to group with at least 5 friends, all of whom will take part in the study together
-
The study comprises of 2 stages –
In the first stage, participants will come to the lab and complete a 30-min questionnaire. A photo will also be taken for each participant
In the second stage, participants will undergo two functional brain imaging scans (day 1 and 3) as well as behavioural training sessions on lying about facial familiarity (day 1 and 2) in 3 consecutive days -
The findings are expected to inform us about the behavioural and neural mechanisms of lying about face familiarity, whether such mechanisms could be altered by training, and how the training effect may be further dependent on individuals' psychopathy trait.
-
Entire experiment duration: approx. 3 hrs.
Period of time: 5 months (April-August 2015)
Language: Both traditional and simplified Chinese
