Bilingual Twin Study

  • Participated twins have to attend 2 assessments of Chinese, English and Maths this year (around 2 hours each), and 1 assessment in the following two years, a total of four times.

  • Parents will receive cash vouchers of HK$180 after each assessment and a student report each year.

Language: Cantonese as mother tongue

 

Eligibility:

- K3-P4 Twins (identical or fraternal)

 

Remarks: Have stayed in Hong Kong for at least 2.5 years

PARTICIPANT RECRUITMENT

Boredom among University Students

  • You will be asked to complete a 30 minutes online questionnaire, asa well as a short 3 minutes questionnaire through a smart phone application daily for 7 days.

 

Period of time: Until 30th November

Brain Development in Adolescent Twins

  • To investigate the brain development in adolescent twins, a non-invasive MRI scanning with some behavioral assessments will be administered to the participants.

  • The MRI scanning will last no longer than 45 minutes while the behavioral assessments may take slightly more than an hour.

 

Period of time: Opened throughout 2015

 

Language: Cantonese

 

Eligibility:

- Twins aged within 15-19

 

You will:

(i) Have normal or corrected vision

 

You will NOT:

(i) Have history of brain injury, psychological or neuropsychiatric disorder, or becoming unconscious without reason

(ii)  Have history of drug or alcoholic dependence

(iii) Have learning disabilities

(iv) Have history of brain or chest surgery

(v)  Have metals inside the body (e.g. pacemaker, blood vessel clips, cochlear implants, tattoo)

(vi) Have claustrophobia

(vii) Be pregnant (Female)

 

Remarks: Participant will receive HKD 450 upon completion of both the MRI scanning and the behavioral assessments
